Notes of
Appreciation
The chair
and planning committee would like to
acknowledge and honor the legacy of Assunta Ng,
the "mother" of the Rainbow Bookfest.

Ms. Ng is
the founder and publisher of the Seattle Chinese Post
and its English-language sister newspaper, the Northwest
Asian Weekly. She conceptualized and produced the first
Rainbow Bookfest held May 3, 2003 at Town Hall with Dr.
Charles Johnson presiding as Honorary Chair:
With the purchase of an all-day pass, a participant
could attend the keynote address, plenary session,
workshops, and the authors' reception. The main goal, as
stated in the 2003 program, was to "... [create]
opportunities for authors and readers of color to hear
their own voices and share their visions, emotions and
dreams."
